Kobylinska’s addition is expected to provide a significant boost to Debrecen’s attacking options as they navigate a challenging group stage schedule against top European handball clubs.

Debrecen VSC has announced the signing of Polish national team left wing Katarzyna Kobylinska, bolstering their roster as they compete in the Champions League group stage.

Kobylinska, 30, brings a wealth of international experience to the Hungarian league, having previously played for clubs in Poland (Gliwice, Plock, and Gdynia), Germany (Metzingen), France (Brest), and Romania (CSM Bucuresti). She currently plays for Beszterce, a Champions League group rival of Debrecen.

“I’m really excited about the upcoming period with Debrecen, and I honestly feel this is a great opportunity for me,” Kobylinska said in a statement released by the club. “I’m especially happy to be able to test my skills in the Hungarian league after playing in Poland, Germany, France, and Romania. Of course, I did my research regarding the club, and I think this is a good project. You can see that Debrecen is building consciously and gradually, and their visibility in Europe is increasing.”

The club prioritizes team continuity, a factor Kobylinska noted as important for success. “Year after year, they try to keep the majority of the team together and make only a few changes, which is important in handball because we need to get to know each other to be effective,” she explained. “I hope to integrate quickly and fight together in the Champions League for the best possible results next year.”

Kobylinska stated she consulted with colleagues before making her decision, receiving positive feedback about the club. She views her move to Debrecen, currently the third-best team in the Hungarian league, as a step forward in her career. “It’s definitely a step forward for me to join Debrecen, the third-best team in the Hungarian top division. Throughout my career, I’ve always looked for challenges,” she said.

“From a personal experience perspective, DVSC made a strong impression on me during our matches, it was a very difficult game that we only managed to win with some luck. I think the two teams are very close in terms of quality. Debrecen has several experienced, good players, but also young talents, which is important for the future. I feel that my personality and playing style fit the team, so that also played a role in accepting the offer. I’m curious about what it will be like, and I’m very excited about the opportunity in Debrecen.”
