Polish Tax Authority Urges Citizens to File 2025 Tax Returns by April 30 Deadline
The Polish Ministry of Finance and National Tax Administration (KAS) are reminding taxpayers that the deadline to file personal income tax (PIT) returns for the 2025 tax year is April 30, 2026. Taxpayers can verify, modify, or approve their returns through the Twój e-PIT service, which is available 24/7 via the e-Tax Office platform and mobile application.
According to official guidance, taxpayers who do not submit their PIT-37 and PIT-38 returns by the deadline will have them automatically accepted by the tax authority starting May 1, 2026. However, returns for PIT-28, PIT-36, and PIT-36L forms require manual completion and approval by the taxpayer, as these will not be processed automatically.
The Twój e-PIT service, now in its eighth year of operation, provides pre-filled tax returns based on data collected by KAS from employers, pension providers, and other income sources. This includes information related to tax exemptions for individuals under 26, families with four or more children, working seniors, and those returning from abroad, as well as deductions for trade union membership fees.
Taxpayers can access the service through the e-Tax Office website or the mobile e-Tax Office application. The service supports electronic filing and payment, enabling faster processing of tax refunds or convenient online payment of any tax due.
Finance Ministry officials emphasize that electronic filing through Twój e-PIT remains the fastest and most efficient method for tax settlement, with the added benefit of direct integration with the national e-Tax Office system for secure transactions.
The filing period for the 2025 tax year began on February 15, 2026, and runs through April 30, 2026. Taxpayers seeking assistance can contact the National Tax Administration’s information hotline for support during the filing season.
