Cleveland Radio Host Launches Scathing On-Air Criticism of Browns Management
Cleveland radio host Tony Rizzo delivered a fiery on-air rebuke of Browns General Manager Andrew Berry and owner Jimmy Haslam yesterday, following Joe Flacco’s impressive performance for the Cincinnati Bengals against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
During his show, “The Tony Rizzo Show,” Rizzo questioned the Browns’ decision to trade Flacco, 40, to a division rival for a fifth-round draft pick. “How could you do that, Andrew?” Rizzo exclaimed, according to audio shared on social media. “How could you do it? Why on Earth did you feel the need to trade this guy to a division opponent…Fireable offense. I wanna know how much longer the owner’s gonna watch this crap?” He continued, stating, “The fans have had it, we deserve better,” and accusing Haslam of prioritizing stadium improvements over the team’s performance.
Rizzo’s outburst came after Flacco threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns in the Bengals’ 33-31 victory over the Steelers on Thursday night. Flacco was traded to Cincinnati earlier this month after being benched by the Browns in favor of rookie Dillon Gabriel. While with Cleveland this season, Flacco completed 815 passing yards with only two touchdowns and six interceptions. The Browns currently hold a 1-5 record and are in last place in the AFC North, a situation that has clearly frustrated the team’s fanbase. The Browns’ struggles and the controversial trade of a veteran quarterback have ignited a debate about the team’s direction and management’s long-term strategy. Team officials have not yet responded to Rizzo’s comments, but are expected to address the situation during a scheduled press conference next week.
