Quebec Businesses See Surge in Popularity Thanks to TikTok Trend
Quebec-based companies are experiencing a significant boost in business driven by a viral trend on TikTok, according to reports. The unexpected source of this growth? Pickles. The phenomenon highlights the power of social media to rapidly influence consumer behavior and create demand for niche products.
The trend gained traction after a content creator, Amira Hammami, documented her experience trying a Pepsi Diète… with pickles. In a video shared on TikTok, Hammami explained she anticipated receiving a pre-mixed beverage, but was surprised to find the pickle juice and pickle slices were separate. Despite the unconventional combination, she attempted to try the drink.
“She pours the mixture, nervously mixes it, then tastes,” reports TVA Nouvelles. Her reaction was immediate: she was disgusted. “Traumatized by the taste, she admits that, even though she likes Pepsi Diète, this combination is a total failure.”
Hammami concluded with self-deprecating humor, stating that the beverage was “the kind of drink that ‘gives you the shits.’” Her authentic and spontaneous video, which has garnered significant attention, exemplifies her style. The hashtag #cornichons has accumulated 15.9 million views on TikTok, demonstrating the widespread reach of the trend, as seen here.
While Hammami’s personal experience with the Pepsi and pickle combination was unfavorable, the broader trend has proven beneficial for Quebec businesses specializing in pickles. The surge in interest underscores how quickly a viral moment can translate into commercial opportunities. A similar, albeit less extreme, example occurred in 2025 when a Pepsi Diète and pickle concoction surfaced, as reported by Petit Petit Gamin.
