Mbappé Set to Feature as Real Madrid Face Real Sociedad
Real Madrid will have star forward Kylian Mbappé available for Saturday’s La Liga clash against Real Sociedad, providing a significant boost to their title aspirations. The Frenchman has been dealing with lingering knee discomfort since December, but has been cleared to play, according to manager Álvaro Arbeloa.
“Kylian is fine,” Arbeloa assured reporters. “He has trained with the group and is available for tomorrow’s game.”
The availability of Mbappé, who has scored 38 goals this season, comes at a crucial time for Real Madrid, as they aim to overtake Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table. A win on Saturday could see them move into first place, with Barcelona not in action until Monday’s match against Girona.
But, Real Madrid will be without Jude Bellingham, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury. The club initially estimated his return for early next month, though some reports suggest he may be out until April. Brazil winger Rodrygo is also unavailable, and versatile defender Éder Militão remains injured.
Despite these absences, Arbeloa expressed optimism about the team’s overall fitness. “Madrid’s injury woes do not appear particularly severe on paper,” he stated. Center back Raúl Asencio, who had been sidelined due to illness, is also expected to be available.
The match against Real Sociedad presents an opportunity for Real Madrid to make a statement and ramp up the pressure on league leaders Barcelona. Real Sociedad enters the contest on an 11-game unbeaten streak under coach Pellegrino Matarazzo, setting the stage for a compelling encounter at the Bernabéu.
Arbeloa also addressed the recent agreement reached with UEFA regarding the European Super League, stating, “It’s an agreement that’s very good for football.”
