Riveted Press Acquires Debut Fantasy Trilogy by Young Australian Author

Riveted Press has acquired world rights to a new middle-grade fantasy trilogy, The Sterling Brothers, penned by emerging Australian author Cody Hargreaves, a development signaling a growing industry interest in supporting young voices in fiction.

The first book in the series, The Ostrich Dilemma, centers on estranged twin brothers who must put aside their differences to confront a perilous ostrich. Hargreaves, currently a program officer at the Queensland Writers Centre where he leads the Youth Writing initiative, expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity. “As a 21-year-old writer, my creative goal has always been to create more fiction for young people that is by young people, and I’m very grateful for this opportunity,” he said.

Rowena Beresford, managing editor at Riveted Press, praised both the story and the author’s dedication. “The Ostrich Dilemma is a brilliant story, and Cody is incredibly dedicated to his craft, and to helping other young writers develop their skills,” Beresford stated. The acquisition highlights a trend toward publishers seeking out and nurturing new talent, as reported by Publishers Weekly.

Riveted Press plans to publish The Ostrich Dilemma in early 2027. This acquisition adds to the growing catalog of fantasy books offered by the press.

The publisher anticipates strong interest in the series and will begin marketing efforts in the coming months.
