The Kremlin is reportedly considering targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, including potential strikes on nuclear power plants, as it seeks to force a surrender. This escalation raises the specter of a wider catastrophe, not only for Ukraine but potentially for the entire region. According to a report by “Dialog,” these options are actively being weighed by Russian officials.

Ukrainian intelligence reports that Russian forces have conducted reconnaissance of ten critical energy infrastructure facilities across nine regions of Ukraine, successfully completing their assigned tasks. The findings have been passed to the Kremlin, where scenarios involving missile and drone strikes on substations connecting Ukraine’s energy system to its nuclear power plants are being actively considered. The primary objective of this strategy, according to Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, is the capitulation of Ukraine.

Simultaneously, Moscow is increasing pressure on Ukraine’s allies in NATO and the European Union, attempting to not only force Kyiv’s surrender but also to reduce support and limit its ability to withstand daily aerial attacks. “This indicates the genocidal nature of Russia’s war against Ukraine,” the Main Intelligence Directorate emphasized.
