Russia is reportedly sharing intelligence with Iran to support target U.S. Forces in the Middle East, according to officials. The development marks the first indication that another major country is actively assisting Iran in its escalating conflict with the United States and its allies.

The information, which includes details on the locations of American troops and military assets, has been flowing from Russia to Iran since the outbreak of hostilities last Saturday, sources told The Washington Post. This intelligence sharing could significantly increase the risk to U.S. Personnel in the region.

“It appears to be a fairly extensive effort,” one of the sources said to the Post. The alleged support from Moscow comes as tensions remain high following recent exchanges between Iran and the U.S. And Israel.
