The transfer status of Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa is increasingly linked to the future of teammate Mohamed Salah, creating a complex situation for manager arne Slot mid-season[[1]]. Chiesa, who joined Liverpool in 2024, has seen limited playing time, sparking transfer speculation, while Salah’s recent issues with team management have opened the door to a potential departure despite a contract running through 2027[[2]]. Liverpool may be forced to weigh the implications of losing either – or both – players during the winter transfer window.

The future of Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa is reportedly tied to the potential departure of teammate Mohamed Salah, according to recent media reports.

Chiesa joined Liverpool in the summer of 2024 from Juventus, but has struggled for consistent playing time due to a series of injuries and being outside of manager Arne Slot’s immediate plans. This has fueled speculation about a possible move away from Anfield.

Several clubs have reportedly expressed interest in the 28-year-old, including former club Juventus and Napoli.

According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, a potential exit for Salah could complicate Chiesa’s chances of leaving in the January transfer window.

Salah recently had a disagreement with manager Arne Slot after being benched in several matches, but the issue was reportedly resolved before the Egyptian international joined the national team for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations currently taking place in Morocco.

Despite the resolution and Salah’s return to the team before departing for international duty, reports suggest the situation could lead to the 33-year-old leaving Liverpool, despite signing a contract extension last year through the summer of 2027.

La Gazzetta reports that Liverpool are reluctant to allow two forwards to depart during the winter transfer window, meaning a decision on at least one of their futures will be deferred until the summer.

Chiesa has appeared in 20 matches for Liverpool across all competitions this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
