Samsung is expanding the capabilities of its Galaxy AI suite, integrating more AI agents and aiming for a more seamless user experience, the company announced ahead of its Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco. The move underscores Samsung’s commitment to artificial intelligence as a key differentiator in the competitive smartphone market.

The South Korean tech giant confirmed that Galaxy AI will be broadened to include integration with Perplexity, a popular AI-powered search and answer engine. Samsung’s research indicates that 80% of users regularly employ two or more AI agents in their daily routines, driving the need for a more unified experience.

“We have committed to building an integrated, open and inclusive AI ecosystem that offers users more choices, flexibility and control to accomplish complex tasks quickly and easily. Galaxy AI acts as an orchestrator, integrating different forms of AI into a unique, natural and cohesive experience.”

According to Samsung, this expansion will not diminish the functionality or integration of existing Galaxy AI features. The suite will continue to operate at the core system level, understanding the full user context rather than functioning solely within individual apps, a common limitation of many current AI solutions.

Perplexity will be available as an AI assistant on the Samsung Galaxy S26

Samsung aims to reduce the friction of switching between applications by allowing Galaxy AI to operate in the background while still enabling access to external services like Perplexity, which will be fully integrated starting with the Samsung Galaxy S26.

Galaxy S26 users will be able to access the Perplexity AI agent using a standard activation phrase, “Hey Plex,” or configure a quick-access button for their preferred agent. Perplexity will also be able to understand context and perform actions within native apps such as Clock, Gallery, Calendar, and Notes, as well as third-party applications, streamlining tasks and automation without requiring manual app access.

The company also confirmed that Galaxy AI will continue to expand its ecosystem with additional partners, maximizing value and accessibility for users. Samsung plans to announce further details of these collaborations during Galaxy Unpacked on Wednesday, February 25.

The announcement comes as Samsung prepares to unveil its latest Galaxy innovations at the San Francisco event, signaling a latest phase in the development of AI-powered mobile technology. The integration of Perplexity and the broader expansion of Galaxy AI are expected to be key features of the new Galaxy S series.
