Samsung is preparing to launch its next “FE” (fan Edition) smartphone, the Galaxy S25 FE, aiming to deliver flagship-level features at a more accessible price. The “FE” designation, short for Fan Edition, first appeared in Samsung’s lineup with the Galaxy S20 FE and represents a more accessible price point within the company’s flagship series.
Initial impressions suggest the Galaxy S25 FE will bear a striking resemblance to the Galaxy S23 FE in terms of design. The device is expected to maintain a glass back—reportedly fingerprint-resistant—an aluminum frame, and rounded corners. This focus on familiar aesthetics allows Samsung to refine a proven design language.
Gadget reviewer Hadlee Simons of Androidauthority.com notes the phone will also include an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, along with Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus Plus on both the front and back. Bright and Vibrant Display with Dynamic AMOLED 2X
Samsung is planning a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,900 nits. While the display typically scales down to 60Hz, Simons observed a 30Hz refresh rate during video playback. The screen boasts a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and a pixel density of 385 ppi. By comparison, the Vivo X200 FE features a 6.31-inch AMOLED display with the same 120Hz refresh rate, but a significantly higher peak brightness of 5,000 nits. Vivo opts for Diamond Shield Glass instead of Corning Gorilla Glass for impact protection.
Samsung has consistently included a 4,500mAh battery and 25W wired charging in its FE models. The Galaxy S25 FE continues this trend with a 4,900mAh battery, matching the capacity of the Galaxy S25 Plus. The device also supports 45W fast charging, bypass charging, and reverse wireless charging.
“I’m also happy to report that the 45W wired charging makes a significant difference in charging times. The Samsung S24 FE took 75 minutes to reach 100% capacity using a 25W charger. Conversely, the Galaxy S25 FE reached 100% in about an hour using my ZTE 65W PPS charger,” Simons stated.
Powered by the Exynos 2400 with 12GB of RAM
The Galaxy S25 FE will utilize the Exynos 2400 chipset, a slightly enhanced version of the Exynos 2400e found in the Samsung S24 FE. While the processor remains largely the same, Samsung has improved the vapor chamber size, resulting in better performance and lower temperatures. However, Geekbench 6 CPU benchmarks reveal the Galaxy S25 FE slightly underperforms the S25 Plus in both single-core and multi-core tests.
In 3DMark Stress Test, the S25 FE exhibited more throttling than its predecessor, maintaining 59-66% of its performance compared to the S24 FE’s 71-72% stability. The device also registered slightly higher peak and average temperatures. The S25 FE initially showed a performance advantage, but matched the S24 FE after 7-10 minutes of testing, with the S24 FE ultimately edging out the new device at the end of each stress test.
Despite these benchmark results, the phone handles demanding games well. Simons experienced minimal stuttering while playing GRID Legends, with a consistently smooth experience, especially with HD textures. “I was also able to max out the graphics and ray tracing in War Thunder Mobile while running at a relatively smooth 60fps. The phone did get warm while running both of these games, so I expect demanding mobile and console ports will run smoothly for the foreseeable future,” he explained.
The S25 FE will be available with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Samsung has also included several software enhancements, such as audio eraser, best face, now brief, and now bar. The “best face” feature, similar to Google’s Best Take, allows users to adjust facial expressions in photos using motion photos.
Samsung is also committing to seven years of OS and security updates, matching Google’s industry-leading update policy. This extended support demonstrates a commitment to long-term device usability and security.
Camera Performance with a 50MP Main Lens
The Samsung S25 FE features a 50MP main camera, an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide lens. Photos generally exhibit pleasing colors, but 1x photos taken in daylight appeared flat and soft, with a noticeable Vaseline-like effect and color fringing. Ultrawide photos showed soft corners and some noise.
A key camera change is the upgrade from a 10MP selfie camera to a 12MP sensor. However, the front-facing camera still lacks autofocus, a feature commonly found on other Galaxy S series phones.
