Santiago’s metro system, a vital transportation network for the Chilean capital, is preparing for continued expansion to meet the needs of a growing population. While no new lines or stations are slated to open in 2026, significant progress is being made on future projects, including Line 7, which promises to dramatically reduce commute times for residents across multiple communities.
The metro currently serves approximately 2 million passengers daily, making its ongoing development crucial for maintaining efficient urban mobility. Future projects aim to extend the network’s reach and alleviate congestion.
