Tensions flared on live television Monday, April 27, as actresses Sara Norte and Carolina Ortigão engaged in a heated exchange during an episode of the SIC Caras program “Passadeira Vermelha.” The disagreement, which centered around grief and loss following the death of Tony Carreira’s daughter, required intervention from the reveal’s host, Liliana Campos.
The conflict began when the panel was discussing the recent interview with Tony Carreira on the ‘Vencidos’ podcast, where he spoke about the pain of losing his daughter, Sara Carreira. Carolina Ortigão suggested that faith could offer solace and serenity to those experiencing grief. Norte took issue with the comment, responding, “It’s very easy to talk about other people when you haven’t lost anyone yourself… Saying some people cope better and others cope worse…”
Norte then accused Ortigão of speaking with “levity” about the subject, recalling previous comments made by her colleague regarding overcoming the death of a child. “The last time, Carolina was saying that she didn’t understand how one overcomes the death of a child, and to me, that is levity! And I apologize, but to me it is, it’s a person who has no idea what it’s like to lose a child,” Norte stated. She too invoked a phrase from Bruno Nogueira, suggesting Ortigão needed to “open horizons.”
Ortigão defended herself, stating, “How can you accuse me of being frivolous? I’ve mentioned your name in the conversation twice without you being here. You’ve made comparisons about my past.” Norte retorted, “Yes, you have. I’ve received videos, and you’ve spoken about me twice in this room. There shouldn’t be comparisons since the crimes aren’t the same.”
Campos attempted to de-escalate the situation, saying, “Sara, let’s calm down… It wasn’t done with malice! If there’s one person who likes you and is always praising you, it’s Carolina.” Norte, however, expressed a preference for silence, stating, “I prefer they say nothing. Being one thing in front of someone and another behind their back.”
The incident highlights the sensitivity surrounding discussions of grief and loss in the public eye, and the challenges of navigating such topics on live television. The program’s format, known for its celebrity commentary, occasionally leads to moments of intense disagreement among its panelists.
