Czech tech firm Seznam.cz has launched a new artificial intelligence assistant, aiming to differentiate itself from international competitors by focusing on the specific needs of Czech users.
The assistant leverages a combination of data from Seznam Search, new large language model technology, and verified internal sources. According to Radoslav Mikeš, head of the Seznam Assistant product team, “Our goal is for the Assistant to save people time, meaning it can understand the task, go through relevant information, and provide a clear summary response with source citations.”
Currently in a trial phase for a select group of users, the assistant is designed to quickly synthesize information and news. Seznam plans to expand its capabilities to include intelligent shopping features, product comparisons, and integration with its content and industry-specific services.

Czech Firm Seznam.cz Enters AI Race with Localized Assistant
Seznam.cz is rolling out its new AI assistant, positioning it as a key differentiator against foreign-developed AI tools by tailoring its responses to the unique needs and search behaviors of Czech users. The launch reflects a broader trend of companies seeking to localize AI technology for specific regional markets.
The assistant draws on data from Seznam Search, alongside cutting-edge large language models and internally vetted sources. “Our aim is for the Assistant to save people time, by understanding requests, processing relevant information, and delivering clear, concise answers with source attribution,” explained Radoslav Mikeš, product team lead for Seznam Assistant.
Currently available in a limited trial on the Seznam.cz homepage and at asistent.seznam.cz, the assistant is also appearing in trending searches and search results.
Seznam plans a phased rollout across its services, with full availability to all registered users expected in the coming months. The company also intends to integrate the assistant into its mobile app and specialized websites, according to Mikeš.
The assistant currently utilizes Seznam’s proprietary language model, SeLLMa, as well as commercial models from OpenAI hosted in European data centers via Microsoft Azure. However, Seznam’s long-term strategy is to operate the assistant exclusively on its internal language models and within its own data centers, Mikeš emphasized.
To ensure performance and responsiveness, Seznam has implemented a weekly query limit per user account. Users with paid Seznam ad-free subscriptions will receive a significantly higher query allowance.
