This year’s event, themed “A Community Woven by stories 2026,” featured a diverse program of workshops and discussions, attracting both established authors and emerging voices. With over 40 Emirati publishing houses participating, the festival served as a vital platform for showcasing new releases and fostering a stronger literary ecosystem within the United Arab Emirates. The festival, held from November 20-24, drew over 60,000 visitors to the Sharjah Expo Center.
The Sharjah International Literary Festival, which concluded its latest session on Wednesday under the theme “A Community Woven by Stories 2026,” is designed to be a deeply community-focused event, according to Amira Bukhdra, chair of the Emirates Publishers Association. The festival’s organizers have emphasized interactive workshops and discussions that reflect the diverse interests of attendees, spanning literature, culture, history, heritage, photography, and even culinary arts.
More than 40 Emirati publishing houses showcased their latest releases at the festival, with a particular focus on Emirati literature.
