Two mobile operators in Slovakia managed to finish with positive net customer gains during the third quarter of 2025, while the smallest operator experienced significant losses.
The Slovakian mobile market saw notable shifts in customer acquisition during the third quarter of 2025. O2 solidified its leading position, continuing to attract customers from all competitors, while the smallest player on the market faced challenges in retaining its subscriber base. An analysis of number portability data reveals which of the four major operators emerged victorious from this period and which may need to reassess its strategy. The data covers the period from July to September 2025.
The published data reflects the third quarter of 2025 and is subject to slight inaccuracies. Operators may record ported numbers on different dates, meaning some transfers from the end of the previous quarter may be counted in the subsequent period. However, discrepancies in data between operators remain minimal.
The statistics only include successful number transfers to a new provider. All providers on the Slovakian mobile market – Orange, O2, Telekom, and 4ka – provided the data for this report.
O2: Clear Leader for the Quarter
Table of Contents
O2 was the clear winner of this period, experiencing a substantial influx of customers and finishing with net positive gains against all three competitors.
The operator gained more than 3,000 customers, with the most significant gains coming from Orange and 4ka:
It’s worth noting that O2 recently announced that it has surpassed Orange in total mobile subscribers and is now the market leader, a development that has clearly boosted its performance.
Orange: Gains Offset by Losses
The third quarter wasn’t particularly successful for Orange. The operator experienced a net loss of customers through number portability, with subscribers leaving for O2 and Telekom.
Orange only saw a positive balance with 4ka, gaining almost 1,000 more customers than it lost. However, this partial win wasn’t enough to reverse the overall trend, and Orange ended the quarter with a net loss of customers.
Telekom: Positive Results
Telekom can also be pleased with its performance. While it didn’t outperform O2 directly, losing nearly 500 customers to the market leader, it made up for it elsewhere.
The operator successfully attracted a significant number of customers from Orange, gaining over 1,300 numbers. Telekom also benefited from customers leaving 4ka, resulting in a net gain for the quarter.
4ka: Customers Leaving for Competitors
4ka recorded the worst performance of all the operators, losing customers to all three competitors.
The majority of departing customers went to O2, resulting in a net loss of nearly 1,400 customers for 4ka:
The operator’s total loss exceeded 3,000 customers. CEO Juraj Ondriš recently stated that the reality of the market is different and that the operator is performing very well, despite the number portability data suggesting otherwise.
“What we see in portability statistics is completely detached from what we see in the ‘big numbers’ of sales (total customer growth, ed. note). We’ve had a record period, a great summer, a record September. And while it’s true that the portability balance doesn’t look good,” he stated.

Total Customer Numbers
As of the end of the third quarter, O2 had 2.37 million active mobile subscribers, Orange had 2.358 million, and Telekom had 2.192 million customers.
4ka only reported its customer numbers at the end of the second quarter, when it had 670,000 subscribers.
