Madrid – Peugeot’s 208 model led Spanish car sales in January 2026, marking a strong start to the year for the French automaker. According to data released by automotive analysis firm Carnovo, a total of 2,055 Peugeot 208s were sold, narrowly outpacing the SEAT Ibiza wiht 1,904 units. The report details the top ten best-selling models as well as rankings for both brands and electric vehicles, revealing a 29.13% monthly increase in EV sales and an 8.85% market share for electric cars nationwide.

New car sales in Spain edged up 1.1 percent in January compared to the same month in 2025, according to data released by industry associations Anfac, Faconauto, and Ganvam. A total of 73,103 vehicles were registered during the month, signaling a modest start to the year for the automotive sector. The increase is largely attributed to approximately 4,000 additional vehicle registrations spurred by incentives offered through the “Reinicia Auto” plan, designed to assist those affected by severe weather events.

The Peugeot 208 was the best-selling model in January, with 2,055 units sold. It was followed by the SEAT Ibiza (1,904 units) and the SEAT Arona (1,715 units). The top five were rounded out by the Toyota C-HR (1,681 units) and the Toyota Corolla (1,675 units). Rounding out the top ten best-selling vehicles were the Dacia Sandero (1,617 units), the Peugeot 2008 (1,453 units), the MG ZS (1,415 units), the Nissan Qashqai (1,376 units), and the Toyota Yaris (1,349 units).
