Czech biathlete Tereza Vobornikova is aiming to continue her stellar form in today’s 12.5-kilometer mass start race. The athlete has recorded two career-best results in recent competitions, signaling a potential breakthrough moment in the biathlon season.
Vobornikova recently secured a sensational bronze medal at the Winter Olympics in Italy, and followed that up with another impressive performance this week. She finished fourth in Thursday’s individual race, achieving a new personal best in the World Cup.
“I’m incredibly happy that I finally managed four clean shots, I’ve been waiting for this all season,” Vobornikova told Czech Television after the race. She was just 2.8 seconds off the podium.
Starting with bib number 13, Vobornikova will compete among the top 30 biathletes as the 15th-ranked athlete in the overall World Cup standings with 269 points. “I really wanted to avoid dropping in the overall ranking, so I’m glad I was able to improve my position,” said Vobornikova, who currently sits 13th in the World Cup mass start rankings.
