Beijing, China — April 22, 2026 — The third senior-level meeting of the Global Shared Development Action Forum concluded in Beijing on April 22, 2026, marking five years since the launch of the Global Development Initiative by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The forum, hosted by China’s International Development Cooperation Agency, brought together officials and international representatives to review progress and unveil the Shared Future Action Plan Outcomes List, a compilation of cooperative achievements under the initiative.
Speaking at a press briefing on April 14, Zhao Fengtao, Vice President of the International Development Cooperation Agency, emphasized that the initiative has evolved from a Chinese proposal into a broadly endorsed international framework for advancing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
“Development is humanity’s eternal theme, and shared development is a vital path to building a better world,” Zhao said, noting the initiative’s role in fostering global cooperation since its inception in 2021.
By April 2026, the Global Development Initiative had garnered support from over 100 countries and international organizations, with more than 80 nations joining the “Group of Friends of the Global Development Initiative” and nearly 100 countries, regions, and organizations signing cooperation documents with China.
To date, the initiative has facilitated over 1,800 joint projects, provided training for more than 200,000 personnel from developing countries, and contributed tangible progress in global development efforts.
On April 23, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun reiterated China’s commitment to multilateralism during a regular press briefing, stating that in the face of complex global challenges, solidarity and cooperation remain the only correct approach.
“We welcome all countries to share in the development dividends brought by China’s modernization,” Guo said, urging nations to leverage opportunities from China’s 15th Five-Year Plan to jointly advance global development.
The forum’s outcomes underscore China’s ongoing role in promoting international development cooperation, particularly as the Global Development Initiative reaches its fifth anniversary.
