‘Toy Story 5’ Trailer Hints at Toys vs. Technology Battle
A new trailer released today for Toy Story 5 reveals a potential conflict between Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and their friends and a new, high-tech rival: a frog-themed tablet named Lilypad.
The teaser, set to INXS’s “Never Tear Us Apart,” shows Bonnie Anderson, who inherited Andy’s toys in Toy Story 3, receiving a package containing Lilypad. As Bonnie opens the box, the toys – including Woody, Buzz, Rex, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, and Jessie – react with dismay to the tablet’s invitation: “Let’s Play!” The trailer concludes with the tagline, “Is the age of toys over?” This storyline taps into a growing concern among parents about children’s screen time and its impact on traditional play.
The film will feature the return of Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, and Joan Cusack, alongside new cast members Conan O’Brien, Ernie Hudson, and Greta Lee, who will voice Lilypad. The franchise has consistently explored themes of change and adaptation, and this installment appears to be no different. For a look back at the history of Pixar, visit Pixar’s official website.
