Coach Ban Confident of Victory Against MacArthur in AFC Champions League 2 Playoff First Leg
At a press conference held at True BG Stadium, True Bangkok United head coach Thachatawan Sripan and midfielder Picha Utra discussed their upcoming AFC Champions League 2 playoff first leg match against MacArthur FC tomorrow.
“Coach Ban” Thachatawan Sripan stated that the team has enjoyed a full week of rest from league play, a welcome break after a demanding schedule of games every three days. He added that the majority of injured players are returning to fitness, giving the team more options. “Currently, the overall condition of the team is excellent, with every player focused and highly motivated for tomorrow’s game,” he said.
“Last year, we faced Sydney FC from Australia in this round. This year, we’re up against MacArthur FC, a strong team, but different from Sydney FC in their style of play. They are physically imposing and tend to attack in the final third with aerial balls. The coaching staff has analyzed both the strengths and weaknesses of MacArthur FC and is working on tactics to counter them. We’re playing at home first and our goal is to secure a win to gain an advantage before traveling to Australia for the second leg.”
This marks the third consecutive year True Bangkok United has reached the knockout stage of the Asian competition, and the team is looking to build on previous experiences. “In the past two years, we’ve performed well, while there’s still room for improvement. In the first year, we conceded a penalty in the final minute against Yokohama F. Marinos. Last year, we received a red card, leaving us with 10 men against Sydney FC, which changed the dynamic of the game. These experiences have taught us valuable lessons about concentration and emotional control. We’re trying to learn from those mistakes, maintain focus, and be fully prepared for tomorrow’s match. Everyone is hoping to reach the quarter-finals and make history for the club.”
Midfielder “Ken” Picha Utra, 30, spoke about the team’s readiness for the match. “The atmosphere within the team is very great right now. New players have joined, and both senior and junior players are helping them integrate well. Regarding the strengths and weaknesses of our opponents, ‘Coach Ban’ has explained everything in detail to the team. Now, it’s up to the players to deliver on the field, and we are all ready for tomorrow’s game.”
Both “Coach Ban” Thachatawan Sripan and Picha Utra invited True Bangkok United fans, as well as all Thai football supporters, to arrive and cheer on the team as they represent Thailand in this important competition, hoping to advance and create history for the club and Thai League. They encouraged fans to fill the stadium and provide vocal support for the “Khwaeng Thep” (The Angels) as they fight for a victory tomorrow.
True Bangkok United will face MacArthur FC in the first leg of the AFC Champions League 2 2025/26 playoff round tomorrow, Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 7:15 PM at True BG Stadium. The match will be broadcast live on Youtube: BGsports.
