The shooting highlights the ongoing debate surrounding the use of force by federal immigration authorities.

The Trump administration quickly asserted that Good had attempted to kill the ICE agents. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated that “every loss of life is a tragedy,” but also characterized the incident as an act of “domestic terrorism.”
Noem claimed that Good “had been stalking and obstructing ICE operations throughout the day.” “She then weaponized her vehicle,” she added.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which oversees ICE, stated that Good attempted to strike the agents, prompting them to fire in self-defense.
Widespread Condemnation
These claims were dismissed by Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey as “nonsense.” He called for ICE agents to leave Minneapolis immediately.
Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Minneapolis in frigid weather following the shooting. Carrying signs reading “ICE out of MPLS,” demonstrators protested what they described as excessive force by federal immigration agents.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz also condemned the federal government’s response, calling it “propaganda.” Walz vowed that the state would “ensure a thorough, fair, and swift investigation.”
“I’ve seen the video. Don’t believe the propaganda machine. The state will ensure a thorough, fair, and swift investigation to ensure accountability and justice,” he said in a social media statement.

Trump’s Defense
Trump responded to the situation in Minneapolis via Truth Social, defending the agent and addressing the widespread condemnation and protests. He called the incident “horrific to watch” and accused the victim of “violently ramming” ICE agents.
He also stated that the shots fired by the ICE agent were in self-defense.
“I just saw the footage of what happened in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It’s horrific to watch. The screaming woman was clearly a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing, and resisting, and then violently, deliberately, and brutally rammed the ICE officers, who apparently shot her in self-defense,” Trump said in his statement.
