Washington – U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that further attacks on Iran are imminent, stating that “today they will be hit very hard.” The announcement comes amid ongoing military operations and escalating tensions in the Middle East.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, on March 7, 2026, President Trump stated, “Because of Iran’s bad behavior, areas and groups that were previously not considered targets are now under serious consideration for complete destruction and certain death.” He further claimed that Iran “is getting hit like hell” and has apologized to its neighbors, promising not to attack them again – a reference to Iranian President Masoud Pezehkian’s recent statements.
This escalation follows a two-day joint military operation between the United States and Israel, during which, according to President Trump, key Iranian leaders, including Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, 86, were removed. The operation as well reportedly resulted in the complete destruction of nine Iranian warships and naval headquarters. According to reports from Yonhap News Agency, Trump stated that the attacks would continue “until all of our goals are achieved.”
Earlier this week, on March 2, 2026, President Trump delivered a six-minute video address, his second public statement since the start of the attacks, in which he expressed condolences for the loss of three American service members in the operation. He acknowledged the possibility of further casualties, stating, “Unfortunately, there will be more sacrifices as this ends, but we will do everything possible to prevent that from happening.” He also vowed to avenge their deaths, describing those engaged in conflict with civilization as “terrorists” who would face “the most severe blow.” As reported by SBS News, Trump emphasized the ongoing nature of the “total force” combat operation.
The development underscores growing regional instability and raises concerns about the potential for a wider conflict. The announcement could influence future diplomatic talks and international efforts to de-escalate the situation.
