Former U.S. President Donald Trump has cautioned Israel against actions that could destabilize Syria and undermine the leadership of its current government. The warning comes days after a deadly Israeli operation in southern Syria, according to reports.

“It is vitally important that Israel maintain a strong and honest dialogue with Syria, and that nothing happens which will disrupt Syria’s evolution into a prosperous nation,” Trump said Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in a post on his Truth Social platform, as reported by AFP.

Trump expressed satisfaction with Syria’s progress under Ahmed al-Sharaa, who made a historic visit to the White House in November. This development signals a potential shift in regional dynamics following years of conflict.

Trump has been advocating for a security pact between Israel and Syria since the Sharaa coalition took power a year ago, ousting long-time ruler Bashar al-Assad.

However, tensions have been rising due to numerous Israeli strikes within Syria. The most recent and deadly operation, which Israel said targeted a militant group, resulted in the deaths of 13 people in southern Syria.

Trump stated that al-Sharaa “is working very hard to ensure good things happen, and that Syria and Israel will have a lasting and prosperous relationship together.”

The former president added that the United States “is doing everything possible to ensure the Syrian Government continues to do what it is supposed to do” in rebuilding the war-torn nation. The U.S. commitment could be crucial for Syria’s long-term stability.

A positive relationship between Syria and Israel, Trump suggested, would bolster efforts toward broader Middle East peace following the fragile Gaza ceasefire reached in October.
