Polish authorities will be imposing fines on households found to be using unregistered radios or televisions. The penalty for possessing a working radio or television without proper registration will be 30 times the monthly subscription fee. As of January 2026, the monthly fee for a radio receiver will be 9.50 Polish złoty, even as the fee for a television receiver, or a combined radio and television, will be 30.50 złoty.
TV and Radio License Inspections Represent a “Small Percentage” of Households
The Polish Post Press Office has confirmed it is carrying out tasks related to the Radio and Television service on behalf of the National Broadcasting Council, which holds the data and information pertaining to the service.
“Inspections, carried out according to a predetermined schedule, are conducted by designated controllers from the Polish Post Financial Service Center. The number of inspections in private homes is minimal and represents only a small percentage of all households,” the office stated in response to inquiries from the Polish Press Agency following reports of the inspections. “If an unregistered radio or television receiver is found in use, the decision issued requires registration of the receiver and establishes a fee for its use in accordance with Article 5 of the Act.”
Who is Exempt from Paying the Broadcast Fee
Radio and television receivers can be registered at post offices or through the Polish Post website within 14 days of purchase. Using cable, satellite, or digital television under a civil law agreement signed with a network operator does not exempt one from the obligation to pay the broadcast fee, as stipulated in the Act on Broadcast Fees, according to the National Broadcasting Council.
