The annual commemoration, first established in 2015, underscores the UAE’s deep respect for its fallen heroes and their families.
Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Advisor, honored the sacrifices of Emirati soldiers on November 30th, recognizing their bravery and dedication to defending the nation and aiding those in need. The annual observance of Martyr’s Day in the United Arab Emirates serves as a national moment of remembrance for those who have died in service to their country.
“We remember on November 30th the sacrifices of the UAE martyrs in the fields of honor and glory; men who gave their lives to keep the flag of the homeland flying and its structure towering, unshaken by the winds,” Sheikh Tahnoon said in a statement. “Men who offered the precious and the valuable to ensure the continuation of our renaissance and to strengthen the UAE’s power and the elevation of its people. These are the sons of the Emirates who were true to the covenant, so they were an example of sacrifice and giving, and a symbol of eternal national dignity.”
Sheikh Tahnoon emphasized the unwavering commitment of Emirati citizens to their nation, stating, “In the Emirates, there are men who hold in their hearts the love of the homeland and loyalty to it, who fear for it and serve it with sincerity and dedication. They do not fear challenges and possess the courage that makes them present in all fields of duty, no matter how great or diverse the tasks, they are always ready to answer the call of leadership, loyal soldiers and a solid shield for this beloved country.”
He further lauded the lasting impact of those who have fallen, noting, “The martyrs of the UAE have written the most wonderful epics of heroism and sacrifice, and they have offered their lives in defense of the homeland and in support of the oppressed in various missions. They left a lasting mark in every position they held, and with their giving, they are today a beacon of generosity and a source of pride and pride for the leadership and people of the UAE. No greatness compares to what the martyrs of the homeland, the righteous sons of the Emirates, have given.”
