Kyiv,Ukraine – A pre-dawn rocket attack on the eastern Ukrainian city of Balakliia has left at least three people dead and ten wounded,including multiple children,local authorities reported Tuesday. The strike underscores the persistent danger to civilians as fighting continues in the region, following an earlier alert issued by Ukraine’s Air Force regarding potential ballistic missile launches from russia’s Kursk region.Emergency services are currently on scene assessing the full extent of the damage and providing medical assistance to those affected.
At least three people were killed and ten others injured, including children, when two rockets struck a residential building in the city of Balakliia early Tuesday morning, according to local authorities.
The attack on Balakliia, a city in eastern Ukraine, highlights the continued threat to civilian populations despite ongoing conflict. Vitalij Karabanov, head of the Balakliia military police, reported the initial strike on Telegram, stating, “The enemy launched two rocket attacks on a residential building in the center of the city. Information about the victims is being clarified. All emergency services are working at the scene.”
Karabanov later clarified at 4:00 a.m. local time that three people had died and at least ten more were wounded, including children born in 2007, 2010, and 2011.
“Nine of the injured have been hospitalized, and one person is receiving outpatient medical care. Unfortunately, reports of possible further injuries are still coming in,” Karabanov added.
Earlier, at 2:00 a.m., Ukraine’s Air Force warned of a potential threat from Russian forces using ballistic missiles launched from Russia’s Kursk region.
