As Ukraine continues to press for international support nearly two years into the conflict with Russia, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to meet with former U.S. President Donald Trump in Florida this weekend amid stalled aid packages in Congress [[2]]. The meeting comes as Kyiv seeks to secure further funding, including from the International Monetary Fund, while concurrently facing intensified attacks and territorial losses [[1]]. Recent reports indicate Russia is adapting to sanctions, possibly impacting Ukraine’s financial backing as the war enters a critical phase.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is anticipating a “very productive” meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday in Florida, as Kyiv seeks to unlock crucial funding from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, speaking alongside Zelenskyy after a meeting between the two leaders, stated that achieving peace in Ukraine requires “a Russia willing to cooperate.” The development underscores the ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin asserted Saturday that Moscow believes Kyiv is not genuinely seeking a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict. According to the Interfax news agency, Putin stated that if Ukraine is unwilling to pursue a peaceful solution, Russia will achieve all its objectives in its “special military operation” through force. The statement from the Kremlin signals a continued hardline stance from Moscow.

Putin was reportedly briefed Saturday on the military situation by Valery Gerasimov, the chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, and commanders of the “Center” and “East” Russian forces. The Kremlin reported that Putin was informed of the capture of Myrnohrad in the Donetsk region and Huliaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine.

The news came after a massive Russian attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region overnight Friday, involving dozens of drones and missiles over at least four hours. According to early reports, the attack resulted in at least two deaths and 40 injuries. More than one million homes across the region were left without electricity by late Saturday afternoon.

The escalating violence highlights the continued intensity of the conflict and the challenges facing efforts to de-escalate the situation.
