A Swedish man turned a modest $1.06 bet into a life-changing $302,000 windfall this past weekend by correctly predicting the outcomes of eight consecutive harness races in the V85 competition at Solvalla racetrack. Joackim Björänge, a 38-year-old steelworker from Smedjebacken, is now planning celebratory purchases and a return trip to the races after his remarkable win. The payout represents a notable share of the $292,000 prize pool for a perfect ticket on November 29th.

Joackim Björänge turned a $1.06 bet into a $32,500 payday on the V85.
The first thing he did – call his mother.
“I was shaking and couldn’t even talk. She was super happy for me,” said the 38-year-old.
V85 from Solvalla.
The November 29th round paid out $292,000 for a perfect ticket.
For 38-year-old Joackim Björänge of Smedjebacken, Saturday became a dramatic day.
The small-stakes player, who used a self-composed system with three single selections, staked $1.06 and correctly predicted all eight races, winning a total of $302,000.
Joackim works in the steel industry. His interest in harness racing comes from his family.
“My grandfather has always followed the races since I was growing up, he’s been an inspiration. I always play on Saturdays, and bet around $1 to $2,” he told Kanal 75.
Followed the Drama on His Phone
He followed Saturday’s V85 broadcast via his mobile phone, and the tension only increased.
“I was in good shape after six races. When the seventh was settled, I simply didn’t dare to watch the eighth,” the 38-year-old continued.
When Carl Johan Jepson won the V85–8 with Pure Atlas, the win was confirmed.
“I’ve never experienced a shock like this before,” he said.
Afterward, he celebrated with a hearty taco night.
But the very first thing Joackim did was call his mother.
“Super Happy for Me”
A call he will never forget.
“I was shaking and couldn’t even talk. She was super happy for me.”
The money will come in handy.
He plans to purchase an upgraded Playstation, new slalom skis, and Christmas gifts for his nieces and nephews.
He’ll also be making a trip to Romme racetrack in January when they host a V85 event.
“We had already planned that. It will be fun to go to the races again,” the big winner concluded.
