Valve has confirmed that its novel hardware lineup, revealed in 2025, remains on track for release this year, though the company cautioned that component shortages could still impact its plans.
In a recent update, the company stated it anticipates launching the new devices at some point in 2026. However, global supply chain limitations – specifically citing memory and storage components – are creating challenges that may influence the final timeline.
“This is the hardware line we announced in 2025. We hope to ship in 2026, but, as we shared recently, memory and storage shortages have created challenges for us,” the company said. “We’ll share updates publicly when we finalize our plans.”
The mention of supply limitations highlights a broader issue affecting the technology industry in recent years. A lack of essential components, such as NAND storage and DRAM memory, has already forced several companies to delay or adjust hardware launches. Due to the shortages, Valve has also not yet set a price for its new devices.
Valve’s new hardware lineup consists of the Steam Controller, a new controller designed for PC gamers, the Steam Machine, a compact and quiet PC for playing games on a TV, and the Steam Frame, a lightweight and wireless virtual reality headset with its own processing power and PC compatibility.
