Latvia’s leading healthcare provider, Veselības Centru Apvienība (VCA), reported a significant increase in patient volume and revenue in 2024, signaling continued growth in demand for outpatient medical services across the Baltic region.

VCA served over 1.5 million patient visits from 375,000 unique individuals in 2024, a 1.5% increase compared to the previous year. The company’s performance reflects a broader trend of increasing healthcare utilization as populations age and access to care expands.

The company has been strategically expanding its service offerings and regional accessibility to meet growing demand. “As we provide extensive access to state-funded services for residents throughout Latvia, we are confident that we are the most accessible healthcare provider in the country, offering everything from diagnostics to high-level surgery,” said Iveta Lāce, Chairperson of the VCA Board. “We also provide a very convenient appointment system through e-poliklinika.lv, which significantly improves the patient experience. At the same time, we continue to develop our services by investing in new equipment, facility improvements, and staff training to ensure our patients receive full-cycle, high-level medical care.”

VCA invested more than €3.5 million in 2024 in cutting-edge diagnostic technologies, infrastructure upgrades, and staff development. The company has also focused on digitalization, enhancing its electronic appointment platform, implementing automated appointment reminder systems, and introducing self-service kiosks in four major clinics. These initiatives aim to streamline the patient experience, reduce no-show rates, and improve overall service quality. The company is also transitioning to digitized referrals and discharge summaries to improve efficiency and reduce paperwork.

As one of the largest employers in the Latvian healthcare sector, VCA employed over 2,000 people in 2024, including nearly 1,000 physicians and 800 other healthcare professionals. The company continues to invest in the training of new doctors, supporting residency programs and providing a training base for students and residents from Riga Stradiņš University and the University of Latvia’s Faculty of Medicine.

VCA’s revenue increased by 8.8% in 2024, reaching €64.78 million. The company contributed more than €17 million in taxes to the Latvian state budget last year, demonstrating its significant economic impact.

Looking ahead to 2025, VCA plans to continue expanding its services and accessibility, with a particular focus on regional development, the implementation of new technologies, and enhancing the patient experience. Recent updates include the renovation of the rehabilitation department at VCA’s “Elite” health clinic and modernization of diagnostic equipment across its network. The company is also defining strategic development plans for its medical specialties and hosted an interdisciplinary conference, “Mission: Heart,” bringing together over 600 professionals from across Latvia to promote continuing medical education.

VCA provides medical services in Riga, Jūrmala, Ķekava, Olaine, Liepāja, Daugavpils, Rēzekne, Talsi, and Bauska, operating 26 clinics and doctorates throughout Latvia, including specialized clinics such as EGV, AIWA Clinic, GK Neiroklīnika, DiaMed, and VCA Dent.

Serving more than 160,000 patient visits per month and offering services in 120 specialties, VCA employs over 2,200 people, including nearly 1,000 doctors and almost 800 other healthcare professionals. Its service portfolio includes consultations with highly qualified specialists and family doctors, diagnostic examinations, rehabilitation, dentistry, surgery, and aesthetic medicine.
