Puerto Rico is shining brightly at Miss Universe 2025, and it’s not just thanks to their contestant. Former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres is captivating audiences as a commentator, while Zashely Nicole Alicea Rivera has already secured a spot in the “Top 30.”
Dressed in a powder-pink ensemble, Torres greeted the audience with enthusiasm. “Good evening, Thailand!” she exclaimed.
During her first commentary segment, Torres reminisced about winning the coveted title herself in 1993. “I was 18 years old, the youngest. I was a baby,” she said with a laugh. She also noted that she was the shortest contestant in the competition.
The actress and presenter also celebrated the achievement of the Puerto Rican representative making it into the Top 30 semifinalists.
Laughing, Torres admitted she barely remembered the swimsuit competition, joking that 32 years had passed since her own reign.
Torres will be offering commentary and sharing anecdotes throughout the evening alongside R’Bonney Gabriel, Miss Universe 2022.
Fans of beauty pageants have flooded social media with praise for the model, with some declaring, “If she competed again, she’d win!”
Torres revealed her new role in the 74th edition of the competition on November 11.
“What an exciting opportunity! Being invited to be a ‘commentary host’ at this year’s Miss Universe pageant is an incredible honor,” she said. “In 1993, this platform opened doors I never imagined and changed the course of my life. I’ve had the privilege of returning several times as a judge, and now, coming back in this new role feels wonderful. I’ll be there, returning to Thailand, celebrating the strength and dreams of every woman on that stage.”
