Los Angeles police have arrested American singer D4vd in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas, whose body was found in the trunk of his Tesla six months ago.
The 21-year-old musician, whose real name is David Burke, was taken into custody without bond and remains in jail ahead of his court appearance. Authorities allege he is responsible for the stabbing death of the teenager, who had been reported missing since 2024.
Celeste Rivas, who would have turned 15 the day before her remains were discovered, was last seen in 2024 after going missing from her Los Angeles suburb home. Her body was found in September inside a vehicle registered to Burke, which had been parked for weeks in the Hollywood Hills before being towed to a storage facility where employees reported a foul odor.
An autopsy report has confirmed that the teen died from multiple stab wounds, according to Dutch broadcaster NOS and other news outlets covering the case.
D4vd, known for his viral hit “Romantic Homicide” and the official Fortnite anthem “Here With Me,” has maintained his innocence, stating through legal representatives that he is not guilty of the charges.
The artist, who has millions of followers across social media and previously performed as an opener on SZA’s SOS Tour, saw his scheduled concerts canceled following the discovery of the body, including shows at Amsterdam’s Paradiso and Melkweg venues.
His legal team has declined to comment on the arrest, while Celeste’s family has spoken publicly about their grief, saying they “miss her terribly” and are seeking justice in the case.
The matter is set to be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office on Monday for further proceedings.
