Erik Eriksen will step down from his position as chairman of Vålerenga Fotball Elite (VIF) following the conclusion of his current term in March. The announcement comes as VIF continues to build momentum after securing promotion back to the top flight two years ago. Eriksen, 59, cited work commitments as the primary reason for his departure, having recently been appointed chairman of the Norsk Folkemuseum this past summer[[1]].His leadership has been credited with stabilizing the club following a period of challenges.
Erik Eriksen will step down from his role as chairman of VIF Football after two seasons at the helm.
The club announced the decision on Thursday.
“The club has rebounded strongly since its relegation two years ago. I am impressed with how the administration, coaches, and players have achieved their goals over the past two years. The focus now is on building further and establishing ourselves as a consistent top-flight club. Due to my work situation, it is difficult to combine with the role of chairman, so my contribution going forward will be as a lifelong supporter,” Eriksen said in a statement. The announcement comes as VIF looks to solidify its position in the league.
Eriksen took on the position in March of last year and will conclude his tenure in March.
The 59-year-old previously held leadership positions at Norsk Tipping and Bane Nor, leaving the latter earlier this year.
This summer, he was appointed chairman of the Norsk Folkemuseum.
