Vivo has offered a first seem at its new flagship model, the X300 Ultra, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. While previous models have prioritized still photo quality, the company is now emphasizing an improvement in video quality, according to a brief demonstration at MWC.
To highlight the potential of its video capabilities, Vivo constructed a complete film set. The resulting footage was indeed of impressive quality, though it’s worth noting the set was perfectly lit and even featured a camera dolly.

Extensive Professional Accessories
Vivo will release detailed camera specifications at a later date. Yet, the company has unveiled comprehensive accessories designed to facilitate professional-quality video recording. These include a Photography Grip, Camera Cage, Cooling Fan, and External Lens Expansion Frame.
A detachable telephoto lens with a focal length of 400 millimeters is also included. Developed in collaboration with Zeiss, like the X300 Ultra’s cameras, the telephoto lens features gimbal-like image stabilization and motion-tracking focus for stable and precise telephoto shots.
All rear cameras can record video in 4K resolution at 120fps in 10-bit Log and Dolby Vision. “This is complemented by the new Pro-Video mode, whose user interface is based on professional film cameras,” Vivo stated in a press release.

High-Quality Feel, But No Testing Yet
During a limited presentation, attendees were only able to handle a switched-off Vivo X300 Ultra and the camera accessories. The professional camera equipment quickly made me feel like a seasoned cinematographer.
Some of the accessories are so compact that the smartphone itself is almost hidden. The smartphone alone, without the telephoto lens or rig, could not be tested or handled.
the demo left me feeling somewhat unsure. The Vivo X300 Ultra and its accompanying camera equipment certainly felt high-quality. However, how well the video quality performs in everyday use remains to be seen until the smartphone can be thoroughly tested.
