Gonzaga Bulldogs Poised for Strong 2024-25 Season with New Talent and Veteran Leadership
SPOKANE, WA – The Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball team, ranked 21st in the AP Top 25 poll, enters the 2024-25 season with high expectations fueled by a mix of returning players and key transfers.
Star forward Graham Ike returns after averaging 17 points per game last season, and will be paired with Braden Huff, who showcased his all-around ability with 18 points, eight rebounds, and three assists in Gonzaga’s NCAA tournament win against Georgia. The Bulldogs have significantly bolstered their guard play with the addition of Braeden Smith (12 points, five assists, and five rebounds per game at Colgate last season), along with transfers Adam Miller from ASU and Steele Venters from Eastern Washington, where he was named Big Sky Conference MVP. A strong backcourt is crucial for success in the competitive West Coast Conference.
Adding further depth to the roster are freshman Davis Fogle, a four-star recruit, and Virginia transfer Jalen Warley, a former five-star recruit. The team is also awaiting a decision from the NCAA regarding a seventh year of eligibility for Tyon Grant-Foster, who averaged 20 points per game for Grand Canyon University in 2023-24 and was named WAC Conference Player of the Year. The Bulldogs’ success may hinge on Grant-Foster’s eligibility, as his scoring ability could significantly elevate the team’s offensive potential. Head coach Mark Few will be looking to improve upon last season’s defensive struggles, aiming to build a team capable of competing for a top seed in the NCAA tournament. Gonzaga’s frontcourt depth, including players like Immanuel Innocenti and Ismaila Diagne, will provide valuable support off the bench. You can find more information about the Bulldogs’ schedule on the official Gonzaga Athletics website.
Coach Few stated the team is focused on improving their defensive consistency, and an official announcement regarding Grant-Foster’s eligibility is expected in the coming weeks.
