Israeli security operations are continuing at a rapid pace in the West Bank. Israeli army and border police have detained numerous Palestinians in raids conducted in various locations across the territory, and clashes have resulted in ongoing activity in the area.

AT LEAST 130 PEOPLE ARRESTED

Reports indicate that at least 130 people have been arrested in recent large-scale operations, with many released after questioning on the scene or detained. These raids are considered part of the occupation forces’ arrest policies throughout the West Bank.

PLAINCLOTHES AGENTS DETAINED AND BEAT FILISTINI YOUTH

Recent footage from the region shows plainclothes agents detaining Palestinian youth near the town of Al-Eizariya, close to Jerusalem, using force. Videos show the young men being forcibly loaded into vehicles, and some being restrained on the ground during their arrest.

COVERT UNITS CONDUCT OPERATIONS

The role of undercover security units in these operations in the West Bank is frequently discussed by analysts. Known as Mista’arvim, which translates to “those who behave like Arabs” in Hebrew, these units consist of military and police personnel who speak Arabic and have the ability to infiltrate local communities. These units conduct intelligence gathering, prevent attacks, carry out complex arrest operations, and engage in counterintelligence activities.

In the past, Mista’arvim units have been actively involved in protests and operations in the West Bank, blending into the local population to identify individuals, and participating in intervention and arrest procedures, according to various media and expert reports. The activities of these units are considered controversial operational techniques by international lawyers and human rights observers. The ongoing operations highlight the complex security situation in the region and the challenges to achieving a lasting peace.
