Searches were underway Monday morning at various locations, including the Arab World Institute in Paris, as part of an investigation into financial links between former French Culture Minister Jack Lang and the late Jeffrey Epstein.

The National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF) opened an investigation on February 6 into suspicions of “aggravated tax fraud laundering” involving the former minister and his daughter, Caroline Lang.

Whereas no charges have been filed against Lang, who recently stepped down as head of the Arab World Institute amid pressure, documents released by the U.S. Justice Department mention his name 673 times in exchanges with Epstein and reveal financial interests connected to the American financier. The investigation highlights the widening scope of scrutiny surrounding prominent figures and their connections to Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 while facing sex trafficking charges.
