‘Toy Story 5’ Teaser Trailer Released, Film Set for 2026

The first teaser trailer for “Toy Story 5” has been released today, confirming the return of Woody and Buzz for a fifth installment in the beloved Pixar franchise, scheduled for release on June 19, 2026.

The trailer introduces Lilypad, a new high-tech, frog-shaped smart tablet voiced by Greta Lee, who presents a new challenge for the toys. Returning voice actors include Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, Joan Cusack as Jessie, Blake Clark as Slinky Dog, and Tony Hale as Forky, alongside new addition Conan O’Brien as Smarty Pants. Andrew Stanton, director of “Finding Nemo” and “Wall-E,” will helm the film, having also co-written the previous four “Toy Story” movies and serving as the sole screenwriter for this latest chapter.

The original “Toy Story” debuted in 1995 as a landmark achievement as the first fully-computer animated feature film, launching a franchise that has consistently resonated with audiences. The success of “Toy Story 3” and “Toy Story 4,” both exceeding $1 billion at the global box office and earning Academy Awards, demonstrates the enduring appeal of these characters; this makes “Toy Story 5” one of Pixar’s most anticipated releases. Pixar’s recent performance has been varied, with “Inside Out 2” becoming the highest-grossing film of 2024, but “Elio” underperforming expectations – a trend suggesting sequels offer more reliable returns. “Toy Story 5” will be Pixar’s 31st feature film, following the release of “Hoppers” in March 2026. Studio representatives have indicated they are confident in the film’s potential, given the franchise’s track record and the creative team involved.
