Young Feminist Art: Exploring the Everyday

My Favorite Things” exhibition returns for its eleventh edition at Mashrabia Gallery of Contemporary Art in Cairo, running from March 29 to April 30, 2026. The annual showcase, which began in 2016 with just three emerging female artists, now features 25 young women, most exhibiting their work for the first time.

Curated without a unifying theme, the exhibition invites each artist to interpret “my favorite thing” through personal experience, creating an indirect dialogue across diverse visual approaches. Works range from intimate reconstructions of daily life to abstract explorations of color and form, where some pieces reduce shape to minimal lines, generating layered interpretations and a distinctive cohesion rooted in individual choice.

According to the gallery, the demonstrate continues to evolve from its modest beginnings into a significant platform for emerging feminist art practices in Egypt. The exhibition remains on view through the end of April.
