A tragic incident in Bihor County, Romania, has left one man dead and another critically injured after a vehicle struck them in a medical center parking lot late Wednesday. Emergency responders were dispatched to Cordău, Sânmartin commune, around 11:30 PM local time, working to extract an 18-year-old trapped under the vehicle, while sadly pronouncing a 27-year-old man at the scene. The incident also resulted in minor injuries to a 32-year-old woman who was with the men.
A 27-year-old man in a wheelchair died and an 18-year-old was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of a medical center in Cordău, Sânmartin commune, Bihor county, Romania. The medical assistant accompanying them was also injured, according to reports.
“On the night of Wednesday into Thursday, Bihor County firefighters responded to a serious accident in the parking lot of a medical center in Cordău, Sânmartin commune. Unfortunately, the incident resulted in one fatality,” the ISU Bihor reported.
The emergency call was received by the ISU Bihor dispatch around 11:30 PM local time. Fire crews from the 1 Mai Guard and the 1 and 2 Oradea Detachments were quickly dispatched to the scene, bringing a heavy rescue vehicle, a first intervention vehicle, an SMURD ambulance with an emergency doctor, and a mobile intensive care ambulance.
“Firefighters worked to extricate and provide first aid to an 18-year-old, who was trapped under the car while in a wheelchair. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and designated as a red medical code. The other person in a wheelchair, a 27-year-old man, was found without vital signs, and doctors pronounced him dead at the scene. The third victim, a 32-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries,” ISU Bihor stated.
