Cristiano Ronaldo made a high-profile visit to the United States this week, meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House. The Portuguese superstar expressed his gratitude for the invitation.

Ronaldo and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, were hosted by President Trump on Tuesday, November 18th, and later attended a dinner with American business leaders and politicians.

The meeting in the Oval Office held particular significance for Ronaldo, who has long expressed a desire to speak with the U.S. President. The encounter was a memorable moment for the global icon.

The invitation from President Trump was a reciprocal gesture, following a signed Portugal national team jersey presented to him by the Portuguese President in June.

“Thank you, Mr. President, for the invitation and the warm welcome you and the First Lady gave to me and my fiancee, @georginagio. We both have something meaningful to offer, and I am ready to do my part while inspiring future generations to build a future based on courage, responsibility, and lasting peace,” Ronaldo shared in a post on his Instagram account.

Ronaldo’s trip to the U.S. marks his first return in 12 years, since Real Madrid’s preseason tour in 2014. This visit comes after a period where the star forward has been dominating headlines with his performances for Al Nassr and the Portuguese national team.

The visit also arrives after the resolution of a 2017 civil suit brought by Kathryn Mayorga, who accused Ronaldo of sexual assault in Las Vegas in 2009. Ronaldo and his legal team consistently denied the allegations, and the case was ultimately dismissed. Looking ahead, Portugal is scheduled to play a friendly match against the United States in Atlanta in March 2026.
