Switzerland’s National League saw pivotal matchups Saturday as teams jockey for playoff positioning with the regular season nearing its midpoint. Lausanne and Geneva emerged victorious, strengthening their claims as contenders in the 13-team league.The wins for both clubs came after Friday night contests, making for a busy weekend of action across the NL.

Lausanne and Geneva both secured victories in Switzerland’s National League (NL) on Saturday, bolstering their positions in the standings. Lausanne defeated Zug 5-2, drawing level with Gottéron, currently in second place, while Geneva dominated Zurich with a 4-1 win.

Lausanne overcame a slow start after falling behind 2-0 by the 29th minute, rallying to victory with a boost from the return of Théo Rochette. The comeback was sparked by a timeout called by head coach Geoff Ward. This followed a 5-2 win against R’wil the previous day, marking a strong weekend for the team.

Geneva continued their winning momentum, securing their second consecutive victory in as many days with the 4-1 triumph over Zurich. Zurich, however, suffered their second defeat of the weekend, previously falling 3-2 to Ajoie.

Ajoie’s win propelled them to fourth place in the league standings. They are scheduled to face Fribourg on Tuesday. The results highlight the competitive nature of the NL as teams battle for playoff positioning.
