Indonesia is preparing to launch a domestically produced national car priced under IDR 300 million (approximately $18,700 USD), entering a highly competitive market segment. With affordability a key driver for Indonesian consumers, the government is prioritizing vehicles in the IDR 200-300 million range. This move comes as numerous established automakers-including Toyota, Honda, and Daihatsu-already vie for market share with a wide array of models in the same price bracket, setting the stage for a challenging debut for the new national vehicle.

Price sensitivity is a major factor for Indonesian car buyers, with the IDR 200-300 million range being particularly popular. This consideration is driving the government’s approach to the national car project, according to officials.
