Urbaniak emphasized that her husband maintained his energy and drive throughout his illness. Despite spending more time at home, they found joy in simple pleasures.

When we went for our daily walk on Thursday, when you lost consciousness, and when the ambulance took you to the hospital, the world stopped again. Wonderful people helped us, because we’ve been lucky enough to have them around lately. We fought every day for the last year and a half. Everything changed since you came out of your first coma. Life slowed down for us, we traveled less, but sometimes things happened… as they usually did with you.

she wrote.

“You tried to work. You wanted to release ‘Kind of Blues,’ you were relentlessly messaging on WhatsApp, writing scores with Peter, looking for beats with Zuzia, and making videos with AI. Finally, we had time for ‘The Sopranos,’ which you loved, and we even went to the theater once! I made your favorite apple pancakes from Hania’s recipe. You liked to pretend everything was okay. You’d say, ‘Dosia, I was just pretending to be healthy again.’ We were supposed to go away for the holidays, you wanted to be with my mom, Kasia and Mika.”

For the past year and a half, every evening you kissed my hand and said, ‘Dos, thank you for another day.’ We laughed that we were like a patient and a nurse… And when we got ready to go out, you’d call yourself ‘Laluś’ and we’d pick out a scarf… You played your last solo on stage on October 26th in Warsaw. You calmly accepted being called Maestro, although you didn’t particularly like it

she concluded.
