Following a major restructuring plan at Ubisoft, internal dissent is growing. Several unions representing employees in France have agreed to a strike from February 10 to February 12, 2026, according to reports from the economic newspaper Les Echos. The unions involved include STJV, Solidaires Informatique, CFE-CGC, CGT, and Printemps écologique.

The catalyst for the planned labor action is the recently announced cost-cutting measures: in addition to canceled projects and studio closures, a voluntary layoff program is being considered at the company’s headquarters in Paris. Reports indicate this could impact up to 200 positions, processed through the Rupture Conventionnelle Collective procedure. Ubisoft states this is currently a proposal, subject to agreement with employee representatives and regulatory review before becoming final. This move comes as game developers worldwide navigate a shifting economic landscape.

Protest Could Expand Internationally

Solidaires Informatique previously called for a half-day strike in Paris after Ubisoft announced further cuts, project halts, and stricter office attendance policies. Demands included halting the cost-reduction plan, maintaining and expanding remote work options, and implementing significant salary increases.

Les Echos reports that this time, the action may not be limited to France. Sites in France are reportedly coordinating with colleagues in other countries to broaden the protest’s reach. An official statement from the participating unions regarding the planned strike dates has not yet been released in the cited reports.
