Club Brugge will host RSC Anderlecht this Sunday at the Jan Breydel Stadium in a highly anticipated Jupiler Pro League clash. This will be the 192nd First Division duel between the two Belgian powerhouses.

The home side boasts a strong record against Anderlecht, having won 45 of their previous 95 home matches against them, with 31 draws and 19 defeats. Club Brugge has only suffered one defeat in their last 12 home matches against the record champions, securing 7 wins and 4 draws, with the lone loss coming in February 2024 (1–2).

Earlier this season, Anderlecht defeated Club Brugge 1–0, ending a streak of six consecutive head-to-head wins for Club. The goal in that match was an own goal scored after just six minutes of play.

Club Brugge comes into the match following a 2-1 victory over Charleroi, secured by a penalty from Tzolis and a late winner in the 100th minute from Joel Ordóñez. Ordóñez previously scored a similarly late goal in the 101st minute in December 2024 against KV Mechelen. This recent win allowed Club to overtake STVV and move into second place in the league standings, just one point behind leaders Union SG.

Nicoló Tresoldi remains Club Brugge’s top scorer with 9 goals. If he finds the back of the net against Anderlecht, it will be his fourth consecutive league match with a goal. Christos Tzolis is close behind with 8 goals and currently leads the league in assists with 10. Both players are key contributors to their team’s attack, having been directly involved in 18 and 17 goals respectively in the JPL this season.

The match takes place after Club Brugge recently sacked head coach Nicky Hayen and appointed Ivan Leko as his replacement. Club Brugge is hoping Leko can lead them to a strong finish in the league. Leko was likewise the coach of Standard Liege the last time they travelled to Club Brugge, as noted in a recent Facebook post.

Anderlecht coach Jérémy Taravel acknowledged the personal dynamic of the match, stating, “Sunday we are not friends, but opponents.” Meanwhile, Ivan Leko has expressed his desire to defeat Anderlecht, but also recognizes that the title race is still wide open, stating, “They can still become champions too.”

Camara expressed confidence ahead of the match, predicting a 1-3 victory for Anderlecht and stating his intention to score. VoetbalPrimeur.be reported on Camara’s bold prediction.
