James Morrison Seals DP World Tour Return with Son as Caddie After Planned Retirement

James Morrison secured a return to the DP World Tour today, November 2, 2025, winning the HotelPlanner Tour’s Rolex Grand Final in Mallorca with his 13-year-old son, Finley, serving as his caddie – a victory that overturned his prior decision to retire from professional golf.

The 40-year-old Englishman finished with a two-under-par final round of 70, reaching 15 under overall and winning by three shots over Italian Stefano Mazzoli at the Club de Golf Alcanada. Morrison had previously announced his intention to retire, but this win dramatically changes his career trajectory. His return to the DP World Tour is particularly notable after a challenging 2024 season where he lost his full-time status for the first time in 15 years.

“When I said this was going to be my last event, it really was going to be, 100%. This has completely messed that up,” Morrison said after the win. He also expressed amusement at the situation for his son, adding, “I feel sorry for him really. He’s got a half past six alarm for school tomorrow morning. He’s amazing. I love him. He did so well.” The victory propelled Morrison 30 places up the Road to Mallorca rankings, securing him a place among the top 20 players who earn a spot on the European tour.

Morrison was not the only British player to qualify for the Tour this weekend; Joshua Berry, David Law, Daniel Young, and Euan Walker also earned their cards. The DP World Tour represents the highest level of professional golf in Europe, and qualifying for it is a significant achievement for any player. Tour officials confirmed that Morrison and the other qualifying players will be eligible to compete in all eligible DP World Tour events in the upcoming season.
