Fans of the action-adventure franchise have a new reason to celebrate: Tomb Raider Definitive Edition has made a surprise debut on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 as of November 18th.

Developed by Crystal Dynamics and ported by Aspyr, this release brings the critically acclaimed 2013 reboot of the Tomb Raider series to Nintendo’s hybrid consoles. The game originally launched on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox consoles, and PC, but is now accessible to a wider audience.

The arrival of a major title like Tomb Raider on the Switch platforms underscores Nintendo’s growing appeal to developers seeking to reach a broader player base. Currently available through the Nintendo eShop, the Definitive Edition is offered at a reduced price of $19.99.

This isn’t the original Tomb Raider from 1996, but rather the reimagining of Lara Croft’s origin story. “This is the game that kicked off the Survivor Trilogy: the intense, award-winning action adventure that follows Lara Croft’s emotional journey from a young, inexperienced woman to a hardened survivor,” the company stated.

The Definitive Edition includes the complete base game, all downloadable content (DLC), and a multiplayer mode supporting up to eight players. Additional content features six outfits for Lara, four multiplayer characters, and eight extra maps, offering both Player versus Player (PvP) and Player versus Environment (PvE) cooperative gameplay.

Beyond the core game and added content, the release also includes digital extras for fans, such as a digital copy of the Dark Horse comic Tomb Raider: The Beginning, the mini art book Tomb Raider: The Art of Survival, and behind-the-scenes videos titled “Final Hours of Tomb Raider.”

For a limited time, until November 24th, players can take advantage of a 10% discount on the game. Aspyr is also offering an additional discount for owners of other Tomb Raider titles on the Switch. Those who own either Tomb Raider I-III Remastered or Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered are eligible for a further 10% off, stacking to a potential 20% discount. Owners of both remastered collections can receive a combined 30% discount.

The release has already generated excitement among Tomb Raider enthusiasts, with many expressing hope that Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider will follow suit and become available on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in the future.

A Classic Reborn on Nintendo’s Consoles

Tomb Raider Definitive Edition is considered one of the best entries in the Lara Croft saga, and its arrival on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 provides a new opportunity for players to experience this acclaimed adventure. The discounted pricing and potential stacking discounts make it an attractive option for both newcomers and long-time fans of the series.
