Adobe has introduced Firefly AI Assistant, a new conversational interface that brings the power of its creative tools into a unified experience. Announced on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, the assistant enables creators to describe desired outcomes in their own words, with the system orchestrating and executing complex, multi-step workflows across Adobe Creative Cloud applications. According to Adobe, Firefly AI Assistant is powered by the company’s creative agent and is designed to reduce the time and complexity involved in moving from idea to finished product. It integrates with Firefly, Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom, Express, Illustrator, and other Adobe apps, allowing users to guide the assistant through natural language while retaining the ability to interject at any stage. The assistant supports dynamic controls that adapt to the context of the project. For example, when editing a product photo set in a forest, it may present a slider to adjust the amount of trees and foliage. Over time, it learns user preferences and suggests relevant actions to streamline repetitive tasks. Adobe also announced the release of “skills” for the assistant—predefined sequences of steps for common creative workflows. One such skill, “social media assets,” helps users adapt images for different platforms by cropping, resizing, optimizing file sizes, and saving outputs in appropriate formats. The Firefly AI Assistant will be available in public beta in the coming weeks through Adobe Firefly, the company’s all-in-one creative AI studio. Adobe did not specify whether the assistant will carry a separate cost beyond existing Firefly subscription tiers.
